Chieftains Honored at CSUMB Event

Palma School seniors Sacramento Figueroa, Rhett Haas, Alex Cabrera and Sam Robinson were honored for their volunteer time spent listening to children read. “These volunteers are providing an invaluable service in our schools. They provide our children with the extra assistance they need to become life-long readers. It is our honor to recognize their important work and to celebrate the gift of literacy,” professed Sylvia Panetta. The event was held at the CSUMB University Center Ballroom on September 22 to kick off its 21st year. Secretary Leon Panetta was the keynote speaker. Alex Cabrera is not shown in the photo.
